our story

our founder

Founded by Tracey Banks, a child of the Generation X consumer age and recovering fashion-aholic.

Her war on waste was triggered by the reality check of the waste of everyday family life borne out by ever-overflowing recycling bins and always-needed charity bag collections.

In May 2018, unpckd was conceived to fill a self-serving gap in the market. As a full-time working mum, wanting to lead a more sustainable life but struggling to find time to get to a refill store, Tracey realised there was a need for a new kind of delivery service - one to take refills to the people, to offer the convenience of online shopping without the waste.

Launching as an experiment in July 2018, unpckd continues to grow and evolve week by week, delivery by delivery, refill by refill and customer by customer.

Tracey is committed to unpckd being a social enterprise to balance the focus on purpose over profit, with running a financially and operationally sustainable business.

unpckd team

our picker packer

As Picker Packer, Kirsty makes sure you get all the refills you order as well as helping unpckd be the best it can be with her wealth of experience and ideas.

Although born and bred in Hitchin, Kirsty has moved about a lot, living in Cambridge, London, Hong Kong and even the Bahamas!

Kirsty owned Halsey's Deli in Hitchin for 10 years and it was there that she became aware of the need for sustainability, trying hard to stock local and seasonal products and practice green and clean working.

We are currently a team of two - but excited for the day we can expand...get in touch if this would interest you :)
