we're collecting with your empties
whilst unpckd is all about less packaging and removing the need for recycling, there are just some things we use everyday for which there are currently no viable waste-free alternatives...e.g. makeup, pet food packaging, medicine blister packs and crisps (to name a few)
the good news is that there are free Terracycle collection points for these unrecyclables, which they are able to upcycle into plastic products (e.g. garden furniture and playground equipment).
the trouble is that, whilst available, it's not exactly convenient - as each collection point is at a different location even town - and it all becomes a bit of an effort!Â
so, we want to help out!
just as we did for the pump dispenser bottles during the first lockdown, we are going to offer a collection service for our customers for the aforementioned 'unavoidable unrecyclables' and deliver in bulk to collection points. We'll collect with your empties; initially on a trial basis to see how it works and how we cope with volumes!
Unavoidable: Blister Packs
TerraCycle® have partnered with some pill medicine brands to create a free recycling programme for any brand of medicine blister packs.
Pop into an empty cotton refill bag:
- any brand of empty medecine blister pack
 
Unavoidable: Crisp Packets
Walkers® offers a simple and free crisp packet recycling scheme, which accepts all brands.
Pop into an empty cotton refill bag:
- any brand of empty crisp packet
- crisp multi-pack outer packaging is accepted. (although we would encourage you to buy big bags for less packaging!)
N.B.
- make sure your packets are completely empty
- do not fold the crisp packets into triangles
Unavoidable: Pet Food Packaging
TerraCycle® is working in partnership with Mars Petcare® and Purina PetCare® to help you recycle flexible plastic pet food packaging.
Pop into an empty cotton refill bag:
- all dry pet food and treat flexible plastic packaging
- all wet food pouches
N.B.
- ensure packaging is clean and dry on inside and out
Unavoidable: Make Up Packaging
TerraCycle® and Maybelline have partnered to create a free recycling programme for all brands of empty makeup packaging.
Pop into empty refill bag:
- empty face makeup packaging (e.g. compacts, tubes and pots)
- empty eye and brow makeup packaging (e.g. mascara wands, eyeliner pens and eyeshadow compacts)
- empty lip makeup and packaging (e.g. lipsticks, lip glosses and lip balms)
N.B.
- ensure packaging empty on inside (i.e. packaging only)
- ensure packaging clean on outside (i.e. not going to mark or stain our refill bag please!)
